The All Churches Trust is one of the UK’s largest grant making trusts supporting churches of all denominations in restoring their historic buildings and widening community use, and Dioceses via Diocesan Boards of Finance and cathedrals. There are no firm rules on what you can (or can’t) apply for, and there are no deadlines for applications. The team at the ACT are more than happy to chat through your ideas with you before you make an application so do get in touch with them if you are planning a project in your church.

This November marks the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. This promise by the then British government to support a Jewish national home in Palestine paved the way for the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 and what Arab Palestinians remember as the Nakba, ‘the disaster’ in which Palestine as a country ceased to exist.
One hundred years on to the day on which the War Cabinet made its momentous decision, Christopher Lamb will be presenting a film ‘Britain in Palestine, 1917-1948’ and discussing the historical context and long-term legacy of the declaration with Mark Levene, a historian of these events.
