The 2017 Ecclesiastical Insurance competition, Get Inspired!, is about using an artwork to show how your church interacts with the local community. Closing date for entries is 21 August. There are cash prizes. For full details follow the link below.

Claire Strachan 20/07/17  Training – Managing Major Building Projects – 19th October

The day will help you manage all stages of a building project in a place of worship. It will be relevant both to new build, alterations and repairs. Although focusing on projects of a significant size, many of the principles apply to smaller projects and the day should be useful whatever the size of project being considered.

The day assumes you already know what you want to do and takes you from there, covering: setting up a project team fund raising obtaining relevant permissions managing building professionals keeping everyone engaged ensuring the project brings the desired benefits over the longer term. On the 12th July, the diocese hosted specialist coach and church growth expert, Christoph Schalk. The day proved to be inspirational and was well supported by clergy and laity across the diocese.

Ryan Finnegan 27/07/17  Prayer for Christian Service – 4 September

All are welcome to attend Prayer for Christian Service which will be led by Ann Hawker on Monday 4 September from 4pm till 5pm in the Chapel of Unity, Coventry Cathedral.

Hear about, and pray for, the Coventry Jesus Centre, which offers friendship and help to all, regardless of their faith or lack of it. Services include support groups and skills classes as well as a small community café, and a drop-in for those in vulnerable accommodation or other particular need.

Ryan Finnegan 27/07/17 Flyer  Preaching Workshop

Leslie J. Francis and Greg Smith will be leading a preaching workshop on Psychological types and Scripture. The workshop first takes place on 23 September at St Peter’s Church, Wellesbourne from 10am till 4pm and is then repeated on 30 September at All Saints’ Church, Bedworth from 10am till 4pm.

Anna Laycock 27/07/17 Flyer  Reconciliation Associate Programme 2017-18

Coventry is known around the world as a City of Peace and Reconciliation…what does this actually mean?

The Associates’ programme is a supportive, learning network for people who are exploring and engaging with the work of reconciliation in their personal, work and community contexts.

The programme consists of eleven monthly sessions. Each session will take place on a weekday evening from 7pm-9pm.

Anna Laycock 24/07/17  Hiroshima Day Service at Coventry Cathedral – 6 August

Please join us at 6pm on Sunday 6th August 2017 for a service of reflection to remember the dropping of nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.

There will be readings and music led by the Dean of Coventry and with speaker Ruth Longoni, Lord Mayor’s Peace Committee. The Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry will attend as well as Mr Tomohiro Mikanagi, Political Minister and Ms Reiko Kurihara, Second Secretary from the Embassy of Japan. Students from Cardinal Newman Catholic School will read Sadako’s story.

This is an event for those of all faiths and none and will take place in Coventry Cathedral and the Chapel of Unity.
