The March Prayer Diary includes news stories from Fosse deanery.
Please find attached two versions of the Prayer Diary. The consecutive format is recommended for displaying on a computer screen, or printing for home use; the booklet format is recommended for printing a double-sided booklet.
You can also download the Prayer Diary from the diocesan website. We aim to publish it on or before the 20th day of the preceding month (although it is sometimes delayed).

Last year was the hottest year on record for the third year in a row since records began; nearly 1 in 6 species are at risk from extinction due to climate change. Earth Hour is a global movement calling for more action to protect God’s earth.
Switch off your lights for an hour to show, like millions of others, you want action. Consider signing your parish up for Eco Church as others have done in the Diocese.

For ministers or local church members wanting to promote reading the bible in schools do visit the ‘Open the Book’ website which provides great bible-based resources for presenting bible stories in school assemblies in an accessible and enjoyable way, or for planning Sunday school sessions.
Open the Book seeks to equip, encourage and enable volunteers from churches to deliver good quality assemblies. It is one way of encouraging bible reading and helping children to discover the riches of the bible.

Fair Trade Fortnight takes place from 27 February through till 12 March in the Cathedral Gift Shop. Celebrate with them the tremendous impact the fair trade movement has made for justice in trade.
The half price sale continues and there is some new stock in including Easter goods. You will even get a free biscuit with your cuppa.
|Anna Laycock 23/02/17|| News Story – International Food Night at St Chad’s
On Monday January 30th, St Chads Church in Wood End hosted their first ever International Food Night: an evening aimed at bringing people in the church and local area together around a shared table of food from across our world. Volunteers from the church cooked and prepared a number of dishes from their home countries, with traditional Greek, Tanzanian, Australian, and Zimbabwean food all available alongside the English staple of sandwiches and scones.

|Anna Laycock 22/02/17 Flyer|| Making New Disciples – 11 March
On Saturday 11 March, the Methodist Church will be hosting a morning at Kenilworth Methodist Church with Mark Ireland and Mike Booker.
Hosted by Andrew Roberts, the morning will include worship, presentations and conversation designed to help us live out more effectively the commission of Jesus to go and make disciples.
The centrepiece of the event will be the sharing of wisdom from Mark and Mike’s book, Making New Disciples, in which they discuss the challenge of making new disciples, the nature of evangelism and review and discus the roles of traditional and fresh expressions of church.

Bishop Christopher warmly encourages everyone to attend City Praise and Prayer on the 19th March 2017.
City Praise and Prayer is an initiative that seeks to gather Christians, regardless of denomination or stream, to lift up the name of Jesus together in praise and to pray with one voice for God’s Kingdom to come in the City of Coventry.
It will take place on Sunday 19 March at 6:30pm at The Welcome Centre, Parkside, Coventry, CV1 2HG.

The Church of England is to undergo a major “culture shift” to mobilise lay members to spread the gospel in their everyday lives. General Synod has given its support to the report, “Setting God’s People Free”, which calls for Christians to be equipped to live out their faith in every sphere – from the factory or office, to the gym or shop – to help increase numbers of Christians and their influence in all areas of life.
