|Claire Strachan 13/10/16|| SPAB John Betjeman Award 2017
Applications are invited for the SPAB John Betjeman Award which celebrates excellence in conservation and repair projects at places of worship of any faith in England and Wales and recognises the highest standards of craftsmanship used in carrying out those projects.
The Award is made for repair or conservation of fabric, fittings or furnishings carried out in the last 18 months. It is not essential that the building is listed – its age or architectural significance is less important than the quality of the repair. |Anna Laycock 10/10/16|| News Story – Coventry Church to reopen after 45 years
St Mark’s Church in Swanswell will open up its doors to worshippers again next year – 45 years after it closed in 1972.
The Grade II listed Coventry church is set to become a City Centre Resource Church. Inspired by the church-planting experience of London Anglican church, Holy Trinity Brompton (who have successfully opened churches in cities across the UK including Brighton, Norwich and Birmingham), City Centre Resource Churches are part of the Church of England’s strategy to serve inner city communities and connect with young people living and working in cities.
