Ryan Finnegan 12/08/16 Guidance  Lead Thefts Rise Sharply in Neighbouring Dioceses

There has recently been a string of lead roof thefts in nearby and neighbouring Dioceses. All Churchwardens, Incumbents and PCC members need to be extra vigilant and should ensure that their security systems are operating properly.

It is worth being aware that without a roof alarm your insurance could be limited, however with a roof alarm approved by your insurer you are more likely to be fully covered. Roof alarm installations are List B so can be carried out with permission from the Archdeacon without a full faculty.

For more information please see Ecclesiastical’s guidance notes on the theft of metals which is attached.

The full guidance and summary guidance are both attached. If you have any queries please contact the DAC office by calling 02476 521 312.

Ryan Finnegan 11/08/16 Flyer  Do Members of your Congregation need a ‘New Ring Tone?’

The Coventry Diocesan Guild of Church Bell ringers will be running a series of training programmes to teach people how to ring church bells. Within our Diocese there are over 100 churches with bells hung for full circle ringing, but a number of these don’t have enough ringers for the bells to peal out on a regular basis.

There may be people within your congregation or parish who would like to ring but have not had the opportunity to ‘have a go’. On Saturday 24 September at Leek Wootton, the Guild will be running a series of sessions to encourage people to learn to ring.

For more information please see the attached flyer.

Ryan Finnegan 11/08/16 Flyer  The Prayer of Stillness in North Warwickshire

The contemplative life has to do with the desire to seek stillness amid the rush of life; to find silence amid noise; to listen amid the clamour to speak; to deepen the internal amid the purely external; to search for God amid busy-ness. Contemplative prayer is the expression of that desire.

The Autumn Quiet Days arranged by The Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer provides the opportunity to enter into this creative stillness and silence. The Quiet days will take place at Purley Chase Centre on Monday 17 and 24 October from 9:30am till 3:15pm.

For more information please see the attached flyer.

Anna Laycock 11/08/16  News Story – Churches Go Green

Last Monday, the 8th of August 2016, was Earth Overshoot Day – the day in which humanity’s resource consumption for the calendar year has exceeded the Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources this year. Earth Overshoot Day is occurring earlier each year as we increasingly use more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate.
