Welcome to the latest Parish Plan Bulletin.

Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who supported the Village Quiz on Sunday, 16th June.

The afternoon was a great success with over 50 people joining in, testing their knowledge of the village, and enjoying the delicious teas and home baking. While the event was not intended as a fund raiser, thanks to the generosity of all those involved, outgoings were minimal and over £100 was collected in entrance money and donations. The sum will go towards the cost of preparing the Parish Plan.

All teams performed impressively well, but special congratulations are due to the winning team, “Anna and Co” (the Clarks)! Well done, too, to “the Snuffers” (Palmers and Reilly’s) in second place, and to “The Vicarage” (Gilchrest’s, Beryl Page and Ann Omer) close behind in third.

Special thanks to Tammy Barker and Harriet Jordan who together with David Holman were the main organisers of the day. They were admirably supported by Frances Heppell, Keri Holman and Anne Omer, with considerable support before and during the event from Vicky Palmer

We are already planning our next event which will take as its theme the wonderful network of footpaths which surround the village. Do get in touch if you are interested in helping with the organisation!

Meanwhile, there will be a Parish Plan stand at the Village Fete on 6th July. Do spare a few minutes to come and say hello! The stand will have lots of information on parish plans and also a Suggestion Box for the use of anyone who wishes to contribute ideas or lodge comments concerning the Plan. We look forward to being part of this most enjoyable occasion.

Since our last bulletin, we have continued to gather material for the Shotteswell Parish Plan. We have met with various village groups in order to get their input to help shape the forthcoming Questionnaire. To date we have listened to the thoughts and ideas of representatives from the Village Hall Committee, Tuesday Club and Mums and Tots. We will be meeting with the Parochial Church Council and the Parish Council in July.

We would like to talk with a cross section of other villagers to find out what issues and needs they feel should be considered in the Questionnaire. To this end, we would like to form two focus groups who would be willing to meet and put forward their views. If you are interested in taking part we would be delighted to hear from you.

In order to secure the funds needed to support our work, we have submitted an application to a national grant-giving body for some of the money that we will need. The balance is likely to come from donations, with perhaps small amounts from our events.

To end, may we say how pleased we are that we now have the support of the Parish Council following a vote at the last Parish Council Meeting.
